Our Story Behind The Floating Gallery

Some ideas arrive quietly and then refuse to leave:

Why should beautiful original art only exist in spaces that feel formal, exclusive? Why can't it live in the café where you start your morning, the office building where you expand your ideas and horizon, the boutique where you spend a slow Saturday, the restaurant where you celebrate something that matters?

That question became The Floating Gallery.

Cyndi Rogoff

Born into an artist family, Cyndi Rogoff has been painting, teaching and mentoring artists from her Watsons Bay studio for over a decade. She is one of those rare people who can walk into a room, look at a painting, and know immediately whether it belongs there — not just aesthetically, but emotionally. That instinct is at the heart of everything The Floating Gallery shows.

Cyndi came to this project as Sadira's art teacher, and stayed as her creative partner. She brings to the gallery something that cannot be manufactured — a genuine, lifelong relationship with art and with the artists who make it.

Sadira Zhou

Sadira is a local who spent years working across art, theatre, sales and business development before arriving at the thing she actually wanted — to bring more beautiful things into the world.

She is a painter herself, a student of fine art who finds as much joy in standing in front of someone else's work as she does in making her own. That dual perspective, as both a business builder and a practising artist, shapes everything about the way The Floating Gallery operates.

She is fiercely committed to the artists she represents. She believes that the creative talent living and working in this community deserves a real platform — not just a wall to hang work on, but genuine support, professional presentation, and an audience that gets to discover them. Building that platform, one venue and one artist at a time, is what brings her joy and keeps her going.
