Our Story Behind The Floating Gallery

Some ideas arrive quietly and then refuse to leave:

Why should beautiful original art only exist in spaces that feel formal, exclusive? Why can't it live in the café where you start your morning, the office building where you expand your ideas and horizon, the boutique where you spend a slow Saturday, the restaurant where you celebrate something that matters?

That question became The Floating Gallery.

Sadira Zhou

Sadira is a Chinese-Australian artist and founder whose path to art runs through two worlds: Sydney's East, where she lives and paints, and Shanghai's gallery districts, where she first saw how art and everyday life can share a room. A once classically and contemporarily trained stage actor and singer, she came to business the long way — through years in sales and business development — and built The Floating Gallery to be the meeting point of everything she knows: beauty, aesthetics, performance, and the discipline of making things happen.

Her own practice weaves Chinese calligraphy into textured painted grounds, pursuing "wild and grand expressions within constraints" — a philosophy that shapes how TFG curates: bold work, considered placement.
